As you read these chapters keep in mind the questions asked
here on them. Dig deep and ask why.
Chpt 16
In Chapter 16 we are struck with the first words of this new
chapter: ”Don’t be offended” Jesus later
notes that many will fall away because offense. WHY, and to whom should we not
be offended by?
Jesus is sure to tell us about the comforter, the Holy
Spirit, could we function as a follower of Jesus without the comforter? What is
the comforter’s role in our lives?
In John 16:33 Jesus said “ I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace.
In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.” How is what He said supposed to bring us peace?
Chapter 17
Opening words in Chapter 17: Glorify me Father that you
might be glorified. How did the Father glorify Him?
Then he breaks into praying for His disciples… are you his
disciple? If so does this prayer Jesus prayed also apply to you? Does God the
Father answer Jesus’ prayers?
Chapter 18
This chapter could be titled : ”The great sins of Judas,
Peter, Pilot and the People”. How did Judas sin? How did Peter sin? How did
Pilot sin? How did the people sin? Was one sin worse than the others? They were all
out of selfish desires and pride…Do you think Judas went to Heaven?
What would you answer Pilot if he asked you “what is the
truth”?
